Almost Over

It's been awhile since I've posted for the simple fact, I don't want to! Haha.
Plus, I'm still a bit out of it after the traumatic experience last Thursday 3/19 at the ORAL SURGEON'S OFFICE!!! Yep, NOT dentist, but ORAL SURGEON. Hehe. Actually, all went well. I had 2 teeth removed, pulled, yanked, extracted, and they did some stuff on my gums. And yes...I was OUT COLD for the whole thing. I made darn sure I was sedated, asleep, passed out, whatever. But you want to know what's funny about it? Our dental insurance here WON'T COVER ANESTHESIA!! I had to pay over $400 to take a 20 minute nap. Another thing our insurance won't cover....implants. They claim implants are "cosmetic". COSMETIC? TO CHEW???? CHEWING IS COSMETIC????? I guess I should be grateful I have SOME insurance coverage huh?

So, the saga continues, I have to go back to the surgeon tomorrow morning and get the stitches out. That's going to be weird. I've never had to had stitches removed before. All the other times they dissolved on their own. Oh well, wish me luck.

Oh, I had my first motorcycle safety class last night. I'll have to write about that maybe tomorrow if I survive. LOL

Ramalama Ding Dong

Something I forgot to put into my profile...I LOVE musicians who don't use instruments. Acapella groups. Musicians who do their famous songs without instruments. I find THAT amazing. That takes talent!!! I first found my love of that type of music with Dion and the Belmonts when they did an acapella version of "I Wonder Why". I couldn't find the actual Dion video....but this is almost EXACTLY what I heard when I saw them at Lackawanna County Stadium

So I was fascinated. In awe if you will. And a friend of mine turned me on to a group called Rockapella. These guys were more than amazing. They had percussion!!! BUT, they claimed no instruments. Ah, the human drum machine Jeff Thatcher was at fault for that!!! I loved the shirt he wore, "GOT SPIT?" If you want to see more of them, search You Tube for more, but here's a song that means a LOT to me, done by one of my favorite artists....ROCKAPELLA!!!

When I worked in Delaware, I had the wonderful opportunity to interview the whole Rockapella group live on the air. No, not on the phone....actually in my studio. Yes, they actually SANG in the studio...LIVE IN FRONT OF ME!!!! HOLY COW!!! They are the ones that did "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego", and the famous "Folgers" commercial jingle...(hey sales, I mentioned Folgers, can you get some cash for that?lol) plus one called "Zombie Jamboree". I think for the first time in my life that day I was star-struck. I've got the audio from that day somewhere in my house, and I didn't think of video taping it. Sorry.

Let me tell ya, I was thrilled when Stan and Frankie played the new song at Christmas time from a college acapella group named "Straight, No Chaser" and their version of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Remember the TV show "America's Got Talent"? Yeah yeah yeah, I hate reality shows, and I hate American Idol, I didn't see this on TV, I saw it online.....there was a group on there called "At Last". They called their style of music, "HipHopApella" instead of acapella. They didn't win, and to this day I don't know why. They were unbelievable!!!

Anyway....I was goofing around online yesterday afternoon, and for the kick of it, I websearched "acapella" and I found a new group (not too too new but still new), that don't call themselves acapella, hiphopapella, they say their music style is "VocalPlay". And this is where each member mimicks or sounds like a particular instrument, so in other words, there are no instruments here either. Ladies and Gentlemen, one of my other favorite acapella....sorry vocalplay groups.....Naturally 7. Unbelievable. Check out Quincy Jones.

That's true talent right there. If you want to see how Naturally 7 got their start, do a you tube search and find them "winging it" on the subway. It's their version of "In The Air Tonight".....a song Magic 93 plays! Hint hint, Stan....Hint hint!!!Or maybe their version of Mister Mr's "Broken Wings". Keep in mind, the bass has changed since this video...but holy cow!

Until next time......Doh doh doh doh doh.....Goodnight Sweetheart well it's time to go....
Doh doh doh doh doh.....Goodnight Sweetheart well it's time to go....
I hate to leave you, but I really must say, whoahoa goodnight sweetheart goodnight!

Yank, Extract and Pull

I haven't posted anything much because of the antibiotics and pain killers I'm on. Yep, I went to the dentist on Tuesday for my emergency appointment. I've got to tell you, yes, I was petrified, but the ladies there were so nice and comforting.
The end result, I've let my oral hygiene go for so long, 2 teeth have to come out (March 19th), implants will go in, and I have to visit the nice women at the dentists every 3 months for the rest of my life.
Hey, it's my own darn fault. I slacked. I let my fears get the best of me and I didn't face up to them, so now I have to sleep in the bed I made. I'm OK with that I guess....I mean, what other choice to I have?
So all in all, things are pretty level, I'm on the air now, I'll be attempting ice fishing for the last time this season today, and hopefully get to ride my motorcycle tomorrow. That's what I have planned. Oh, and finish the antibiotics and pray the infection doesn't come back before the extractions. I guess I won't be talking too much on the air on 3/21 huh? Fran, if you're reading this, remind me to call off that day. LOL.

Have a GREAT warm weekend, and thanks for listening to Magic 93.

Sorry, no pictures today. I'm too out of it.

Tomorrow.......Doom's Day

Well, I couldn't take it anymore. The pain and fear going on in my mouth is too much to handle. I've got to humble myself, face my fears, and go to the dentist.
My wife scheduled the appointment for me for tomorrow...because if left up to me, I'd never do it. I'll be there at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Probably shaking, and peeing myself. I hope they realize how much of a baby I am. I hope they realize that someone will have to be there to hold my hand, while another one fills my mouth full of nova cane so I can't even feel them LOOKING in there, and one more person telling me over and over again that I don't need to be embarrassed, that everything is going to be OK.
I've got wicked heartburn right now because of the fear I'm full of. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. And my mouth hurts.
Say a prayer for me. Wish me luck. Thanks for listening to Magic 93 as well.
