Busy Week and Lots of FUN!!

For those of you who know anything about Advertising.......the week before Thanksgiving all the way up to the Wednesday before are sheer mayhem. EVERYONE wants to advertise, and they all want to get on the radio NOW!!! So it's a bit busy. BUT, I made it through another year with minimal hair loss, and only one day with high blood pressure. So Thanksgiving came and my wife and I spent it with family like we do every year. Delicious food, great company, and the newest addition to the family (cousin) started the Italian traditions early.
There's wine at every dinner (Thanks Uncle Saul)......and that Turkey leg was almost bigger than him. Of course my niece had to get in on the act as well.

She took one bite and was done. That's OK, Uncle Tommy was more than happy to finish off the leg. I think she wanted the chocolate pie more than anything else.

I got stuffed. I loved it. I slept wonderfully that evening. :)

Then of course, having a few days off, and with beautiful weather, I grabbed my friend Mike, and we went......yes....GeoCaching!
Since I've been gloating about how I love geocaching, a lot of people ask, "What do you find? Where to do you find these 'cache's'?" Well, I've got pictures of the actual cache's and/or hiding places. So if you're out geocaching, and you're looking for these specific ones, please don't wreck the fun for others, and use this information for good...not evil. :)
Yesterday (Sunday) was a day to "HIKE". A lot of the caches we find are "Urban", which means they are hidden in town, in parking lots, on the outskirts of the Weis/Mr. Z's grocery store...etc etc. So we decided to hit the forest for some hiking and caching. I'm so glad we did. I got so much stinkin' exercise yesterday, I worked off the entire Thanksgiving dinner.
The first one we hiked to was behind the "Stump Pond" near Francis Walter Dam. This was a HUGE hike. We walked for what seemed like an hour just to get to Ground Zero. It was a nice hike though. Not too rough, but not like walking on pavement. When we got to the area, Mike was focusing on the GPS while I looked around. "What is this?" "Why is there a rope attached to a tree in the middle of nowhere?" I followed the rope up the tree only to find this.

The cache was WAAAAAAYYYYYYYY up the tree. So we used the rope to lower it down and found all the treasures inside.
I signed the log, read some of the other inputs, and we took a little toy. I also left a Red Rose Lucky charm. :) Then back up the tree she goes for someone else to find.
After the 32 hour hike back (I exaggerate) to the truck, we were off to find another. This one was supposedly ON THE ROAD to Francis Walter Dam. We pulled over and allowed the GPS to take us all over creation with NOTHING around us. BUT then......I think this may be it!
"Mike........is that it over there?"

Yep...that's it. Where you may ask? Under the reflector. YES...UNDER IT.

That was an interesting one too. We trucked on into the park, found one in a bird's nest, then called it a day, because the one road was closed due to construction. Back home we went. Mike says, "Let's see if we can find the one in Dallas Park again". He says "AGAIN", because we were there on Friday ripping the woods apart looking for this. BUT THIS TIME....we found it. We actually found 2 right next to each other, but there was only supposed to be one. Oh well, signed both logs, left some little things while we took the "Goofy" toy, and I took Mike home. It was getting dark.
All-in-all, I had a wonderful holiday break (even though I worked on Friday and Saturday), enjoyed caching with Mike, enjoyed dinner with the whole fam damily, and enjoyed the laziness with my wife.
I can't wait to see what this week looks like in the advertising aspect. :) Some years it's explosive, other years it's been super slow. We'll see. (Let's hope for the explosive).
Until next post....thanks for reading, and thanks for listening to Magic 93.

Cemetery Caching

So I'm obsessed. Yes, as per my last post, GeoCaching has obsessed my persona. I love it. It's like I'm a treasure hunter out for buried treasure.
It's an adventure. I think next time I'm going to dress up like Indiana Jones....I do have the hat. LOL. Strap a whip to my belt, throw on a brown leather jacket, no pistol because I'd hurt myself, and carry around a big radio playing the theme song when we get close to the cache. That would be hysterical.
I sneak out at lunch to find some 'micro' caches around town, and when the weekend hits, I spend a whole day searching. This past Sunday was no exception. I had it all planned out with my friend Darren. So I met up with him around 9:30 at his place, which is in the middle of really, nowhere, and off we went. I printed out a bunch of cache's that were all around his neighborhood, because 2 weeks ago, we found all the ones in MY neighborhood. :)
The majority of these caches were little ones, found on guard-rails hidden inside 'hide-a-key', but there were a few that were in cemetery's. Some cemetery's were nicely kept, but there were 2 that were, let's just say, like something out of a horror flick. One cemetery was very well kept, and the view was just amazing!!!!
Beautiful!!!!

Without further ado.....here are pics of the other 2 cemetery's that really need help. One I didn't even know was there until we were on top of it....it was creepy.

None of the cache's were anything spectacular, but it was sure fun going on these treasure hunts. I STRONGLY suggest, if you want to get outdoors for awhile, get some exercise, and just enjoy places around town you never knew existed, give GeoCaching a try.
