Old Time Rock-n-Roll
I saw .38 Special, REO Speedwagon, and Styx this past Friday night (7/3). Let me tell you......THAT is what Rock-N-Roll is all about. Of course, in my opinion. LOLI've been noticing a lot of the 'new' music that comes out, from the American Idols, or the such, is the lack of MUSIC. It sounds to me like some canned, pre-recorded track for these "stars" to sing to. Whatever happened to the music aspect of it? When songs had :37 intros because it was a good SONG. Whatever happened to 'bridges' of songs? Guitar solos? Drum solos? Maybe I'm just getting old. What I do know is....STYX ROCKED!!!!!
Speedwagon was great as always, and .38 Special warmed up the crowd wonderfully.
One more quick note......pet peeve rather......but if you have an assigned seat at a concert.....SIT THERE!!!! One of my co-workers sat next to us at the show, and in between Speedwagon and Styx, they went for a walk. I had to tell 4 different people the seats were taken. People who did NOT have those seats were trying to sit there. People were constantly trying to sit in the luxury boxes when NO ONE had tickets for there. Kudos to the Live Nation security for bouncing the 100 and some seat jumpers.
All-in-all.....great stage prescence from all three. Great sound from all three. Great show all around!!!! ROCK-N-ROLL!!!!!!!!
That's the T-shirt I got. (making devil-horn hands and banging head)

Rain Rain Go Away
So a friend and I decided we were going to go camping one Saturday into Sunday. We picked the weekend of Father's Day back in April. The plans were set. And God had his own plan. Ooooodles of rain! I don't know about you, but I don't like camping, boating, walking, hiking, in the rain. I promised I'd go, and if you know me, I'm a man of my word to the best of my ability.
I'm so glad I went. This friend, Darren, and I made a plan on how to stay dry. We did for the most part. BIG STINKIN' TARPS!!!! And with the help of a 6 foot ladder and some clothes line, and of course, the cooperation from God for a few hours to get set-up, we didn't get too wet at all. Just my feet throughout the weekend.
That's tarp #1. Covering almost the entire campsite. Notice the angle for rain run off? I didn't think of that, Darren did, and I'm glad he did. Seriously, this tarp was HUMONGOUS.
Tarp #2 went over my tent.
See the ladder? That came in super handy. For some reason, Darren's tent is waterproof. Mine is not, so I needed the tarp. Thank goodness I used it, because it poured like MAD that night. But I stayed dry and warm, and all was good.
By the Grace of God, we even were able to get out on the boat and do some fishing. Darren SMASHED a lunker largemouth.

But when the sun went down, I fished at night, and ended up whacking a HUGE largemouth as well from the shore. It's tough to see, but he's a beaut.
We ate hot dogs over the fire, coffee cooked over the fire, and slept well. It wasn't easy getting the fire going with all the wet wood around, but Darren brought a hatchet. It was pretty cool watching him shave bigger logs down to get to the center of the wood where it's dry for kindling. Once the fire swelled up, it was pretty easy to burn wet stuff.
There a few more folks that want to do a weekend or something at my private little place, and they're more than welcome....as long as I'm there to enjoy it too.
I'm off this weekend on Magic 93. I'll be at the Styx show Friday night, so I won't be functioning properly Saturday morning. Thank you Suzie Quinn for covering the AM show.
Here are some more pics of the campsite after we got it set up.

And here's what it looked like when I woke up the next morning.
Beautiful! Thanks for listening to Magic 93. Thanks for reading. Enjoy your weekend! Find something to be grateful for.
